N.T. Wright is one of the most reliable teachers of the New Testament in the English-speaking world. He has written numerous books and travelled extensively to speak publicly, including two visits from England to Nashville in recent memory.
His most recent book, How God Became King: The Forgotten Story of the Gospels, continues his effort to help Christians understand the Bible as its writers offered it.
Wright’s style is accessible but informed by world-class scholarship. Wright also challenges his readers! Maybe you’re hungry for a challenge for your faith this fall, for a chance to dig deeper, seek more earnestly and live more faithfully.
Did Jesus come to teach people how to go to heaven? Do the miracles of Jesus prove that he is the Son of God? Did Jesus come to set us an example of how to live? Wright wants us to go deeper than our traditional questions and answers, to the very heart of the gospel of the Son of God.
If that strikes a chord in you, consider yourself invited to read and discuss Wright on Thursday evenings at First Presbyterian Church. Beginning September 13, Associate Pastor Stuart Gordon will lead this discussion of The Forgotten Story of the Gospels. At 6:30 P.M., an optional light dinner will be served for $5, with discussion from 7:00-8:00 P.M. Please contact Stuart to join the group (298-9554 or email [email protected]).
