Wednesdays

Women of the Word (WOW) Morning Group

9:30-11:00 a.m. | Vance Hall (MW-222)

Consider joining the WOW (Women of the Word) Bible Study on Wednesday mornings in Vance Hall at 9:30 a.m. as they read and discuss two back-to-back studies. The group will begin with a 7-week study with Lisa Harper on The Gospel of Mark, following Jesus through His days of early ministry to the cross and discovering what it means to be the recipients of His overflowing compassion and the very reason for His all-consuming passion.

This will be followed by a 5-week study, beginning March 27 throughApril 24, from Priscilla Shirer on the Sabbath. One of the greatest challenges among women in our culture is taking time to cease from all the activities and just breathe. By neglecting time for tranquility, serenity, and repose, we limit our Christlikeness and miss out on some of God’s greatest gifts.  If you are weary, worn out, and exhausted, then the concept of Sabbath will change your life.

Contact leader Leslee Bechtel if you are interested in participating or have questions.

Contemplative Prayer

4:00-5:oo p.m. | Prayer Room (CC-150)

Join Sandra Randleman for a study of contemplative prayer followed by a time of contemplative prayer.

“The only thing to seek in contemplative prayer is God; and we seek Him successfully when we realize that we cannot find Him unless He shows Himself to us, and yet at the same time that He would not have inspired us to seek Him unless we had already found Him.”

― Thomas Merton, “Thoughts In Solitude”

Thursdays

Thursday Morning Women’s Bible Study

7:00-7:45 A.M. | Vance Hall (MW-222)

The Thursday Morning Women’s Bible Study, led by Rev. Dr. Sandra Randleman, is currently studying a series on the Holy Spirit and the book of Acts. All women are invited to attend this insightful and engaging study group.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Sandra, 615-298-9502, srandleman@fpcnashville.org.

Thursday Night Study with Stuart Gordon

7:00-8:00 p.m.; optional meal 6:00 p.m. | Jones Session Room (MW-203)

Rev. Stuart Gordon convenes this book discussion group each week. You’re invited to join us for Pondering Predestination as we take another look at the doctrine of predestination, a most vexing conviction, one for which Presbyterians are known. This won’t be a debate for or against; it will be an exploration of the mystery of human freedom and God’s freedom. Why does it matter? For one reason, current neurologists are prone to believe that free will is a fantasy, something we like to think about ourselves but which doesn’t hold up to the latest science.
